The main purpose of a meat grinder is to prepare minced meat for homemade cutlets. Types of Minced Meat Discs
There are 3 types of perforated discs for minced meat:
- with small holes: 3-3.5 mm;
- with medium holes: 4.5-6 mm;
- with large holes: 8-9 mm. Each disc is designed for preparing a specific product. The softer the raw material for processing, the larger the holes should be. Large holes make minced meat similar in quality to chopped meat, which is necessary for dishes such as manti or khinkali.
Meat Grinder Attachments – Main Types
In addition to standard discs, the meat grinder has the following attachments:
- Kebbe attachment – used for preparing the Middle Eastern dish kebbe – meat-stuffed cutlets. Using the “kebbe” attachment, tubes are obtained that are stuffed with fillings and then fried in a pan or baked in the oven. There are many ways to prepare this dish, but the “kebbe” attachment will come in handy in any case;
- Vegetable slicer (shredder), with which vegetables are cut into cubes, strips, and circles. It will come in handy for preparing salads;
- Vegetable grater – designed for grating vegetables and is a hollow stainless steel cylinder with holes. The kit includes several attachments with holes of different diameters;
- Sausage attachment – it is used to make homemade sausage. It is a long tube, on the neck of which a casing or a hollow tube is put on. When this meat grinder attachment is working, the minced meat is fed into the tube, filling it;
- Modeling attachment – with its help, minced meat or dough is distributed in even portions. This is convenient for making cutlets – they come out in different shapes, and your hands will not get dirty at the same time. This attachment also allows you to make cookies of various shapes from dough.
