Savory Meat & Egg Nests

Looking for a fun, creative, and delicious dinner that the whole family will love? These Savory Meat & Egg Nests are a perfect choice! This dish takes simple, everyday ingredients and turns them into a meal that’s both visually appealing and incredibly tasty. Plus, it comes together quickly, making it a fantastic solution for a busy weeknight.

Ingredients:

  • 500g (about 1.1 lbs) ground meat (chicken, pork, or a mix)
  • 2-3 slices of bread, crusts removed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 5 eggs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil, for greasing the pan

Preparation:

  1. Prep the Bread: In a bowl, soak the bread slices in warm milk for a few minutes until they soften.
  2. Chop & Grate: While the bread soaks, finely chop the onions and grate the carrot on a fine grater.
  3. Mix the Meat Base: Squeeze out the excess milk from the bread and add it to a large bowl with the ground meat. Add one of the raw eggs, the chopped onions, grated carrot, and a generous amount of salt and pepper.
  4. Form the Nests: Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined. Divide the mixture into 4-5 equal parts and shape each into a round “nest” with a clear indentation in the center.
  5. Place on Pan: Lightly grease a baking sheet with oil and carefully place your meat nests on it.
  6. Add the Eggs: Gently crack one egg into the center of each nest, taking care not to break the yolk. For a little extra flavor, you can sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt and pepper on top of the eggs.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake the nests in a preheated oven at 180-200 °C (350-400 °F) for approximately 30-40 minutes. The meat should be cooked through and the egg whites should be set.
