We invite you to prepare a delicious and unique dish – Salmon Baked in Puff Pastry with Spinach. A crispy golden crust on the outside and flavorful salmon with spinach on the inside make for a stunning and mouthwatering meal!

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry (about 300 g; you can make it from scratch if preferred)
  • 450 g of frozen spinach leaves
  • 1 onion
  • 2–3 garlic cloves
  • 100 g of Ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 block of unsalted butter
  • About 600 g of skinless salmon fillet
  • 1 egg
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Season the salmon fillet with salt and pepper. If the fillet has skin, remove it first.
  2. Cook the Spinach Filling:
    • In a deep frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion and sauté for a few minutes.
    • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
    • Add the thawed spinach and sauté until fully combined.
    • Season with salt and pepper, then turn off the heat. Stir in the Ricotta cheese and mix thoroughly.
  3. Prepare the Pastry:
    • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into strips so you can wrap it in the shape of a Christmas tree.
    • Place the spinach mixture in the center of the pastry. Lay the salmon fillet on top of the spinach mixture.
    • Fold the pastry strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braided pattern resembling a tree. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg.
  4. Bake the Dish:
    • Place the wrapped salmon on a parchment-lined baking tray.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 25–30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the pastry from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
    • Slice into portions and serve warm.
