We invite you to prepare a delicious dish: Potato Casserole with Bacon.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) potatoes
- 2 onions
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 300 g (10.6 oz) smoked raw bacon
- 100 g (3.5 oz) sausage
- 100 g (3.5 oz) sliced cheese
- 150 ml (5 fl oz) heavy cream (30%)
- 2 eggs
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of pepper
- Three pinches of other spices of your choice
Instructions:
- Prepare the potatoes. Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water for 15 minutes.
- Sauté the filling. Heat the oil in a hot pan. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Then add diced sausage and bacon. Fry for about 5 minutes over medium heat.
- Layer the potatoes. Slice the boiled and cooled potatoes into rounds. Place 1/3 of the potato slices in a baking dish, such as a heatproof casserole dish (approximately 25 × 15 cm or 10 × 6 inches).
- Prepare the seasoning. Whisk together the spices with the eggs. Add the cream and mix well.
- Assemble the casserole. Spread 1/3 of the sautéed bacon over the first potato layer. Then evenly layer slices of cheese. Repeat with another 1/3 of the potatoes, bacon, cheese, and then the remaining layers: potatoes, bacon, and cheese.
- Add the cream mixture. Pour the prepared cream and egg mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 35-40 minutes.
