Polish-Style Fish with Eggs

Let’s prepare a delicious dish – Polish-style fish with eggs. While cod is traditionally used, you can substitute it with pollock or hake.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg fish (cod, pollock, or hake)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 onion
  • 600 g potatoes
  • 1 carrot
  • 45 g clarified butter
  • 1 L water
  • Herbs, peppercorns, salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the fish: Clean the fish, removing scales, head, and innards. Separate the fillets from the bones and cut into portions. Proper preparation is key to the dish’s flavor.
  2. Make the broth: Bring water to a boil and add onion, carrot, spices, bay leaf, and garlic. While not traditionally included, these ingredients add depth of flavor to the broth.
  3. Prepare the sauce: Reserve half a cup of broth for the sauce.
  4. Cook the fish: Add the fish to the boiling broth. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Avoid vigorous boiling.
  5. Boil the eggs: Hard boil the eggs and chop finely.
  6. Make the sauce: Melt butter in a skillet, add the chopped eggs, and half a cup of reserved broth. Stir well.
  7. Combine: Transfer the fish to the skillet and coat it completely with the sauce. Simmer for a few minutes.

Serve the Polish-Style Fish with Eggs with mashed potatoes. Enjoy hot!
