Orange Liqueur (Orancello)

We invite you to prepare a light alcoholic beverage, Orange Liqueur (Orancello).
Orancello takes 10-12 days to make, with an alcohol content of 18-24%. It can be enjoyed on its own or used in a variety of cocktails.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large, ripe oranges
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 500 ml quality vodka or well-purified moonshine

Preparation:

  1. Thoroughly wash the oranges with hot water, using a brush.
  2. Using a vegetable peeler or sharp knife, remove the orange zest, avoiding the white pith.
  3. Place the zest in a glass jar, pour in the vodka, seal, and store in a dark place at room temperature for 7 days, shaking once daily.
  4. Place the peeled oranges in a sealed bag and refrigerate for 7 days.
  5. After 7 days, strain the infused vodka through several layers of cheesecloth, pressing the zest to extract all liquid, then discard the zest.
  6. Cut the oranges in half and extract about 350 ml of juice. If you have more than this, don’t use the extra juice, as more juice and sugar will lower the alcohol content.
  7. Pour the juice into a saucepan, add sugar, and heat on low until the sugar dissolves, but do not bring to a boil.
  8. Strain the orange syrup through cheesecloth, let it cool, and combine it with the vodka infusion.
  9. Pour the Orancello into bottles, seal, and let it sit in a dark place for at least 3 days to allow the flavor to stabilize.
  10. If sediment appears at the bottom of the bottles after settling, filter the liqueur through cotton or cheesecloth.

Orange Liqueur (Orancello) is ready. Serve chilled or use it in cocktail recipes. Enjoy!
