Meat in a Coat

Let’s prepare a delicious and hearty Meat in a Coat. This dish is a great way to use up leftover mashed potatoes and is perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients:

  • 500g potatoes
  • 700g pork (can be substituted with chicken, turkey, etc.)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pork seasoning
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 tsp dried garlic
  • 200g mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 egg
  • Flour for dredging
  • 120g hard cheese
  • 5 tbsp sour cream or mayonnaise

Instructions:

  1. Cook the potatoes: Boil 500g of potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with 30g of butter and a splash of milk.
  2. Prepare the meat: Cut the pork into 5mm thick slices. Pound slightly with a meat mallet. Season with salt, pork seasoning, black pepper, and dried garlic. Marinate while preparing the other ingredients.
  3. Sauté the mushrooms: Chop the mushrooms and onions. Sauté in oil until the liquid evaporates. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Assemble the dish: Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Dip each piece of meat in egg, then flour. Place on a baking sheet. Top with tomato slices, sautéed mushrooms, and a layer of mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with grated cheese and drizzle with sour cream or mayonnaise.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and the meat is cooked through.
