Here’s how to make a Long Island Iced Tea cocktail.
There is a popular legend about the cocktail that claims it was invented during Prohibition in the United States. In bars, it was served as a non-alcoholic iced tea. Its color resembles tea poured into tea cups and garnished with a slice of lemon—making it indistinguishable from real tea.
In reality, the cocktail was created by Robert Butt, a bartender at Oak Beach Inn in the Town of Babylon, Long Island, New York, in 1970.
Ingredients:
- 20 ml white rum
- 20 ml vodka
- 20 ml gin
- 20 ml white tequila
- 20 ml Cointreau liqueur
- 30 ml lemon juice
- 60 ml Coca-Cola
Glass:
- Collins glass (460 ml, filled with ice cubes)
Preparation:
Mix everything (except the Coca-Cola) in a shaker, then pour into the glass and add Coca-Cola. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon or lime.
Variations: Instead of Cointreau, other liqueurs may be used, such as White Creme de Menthe or Triple Sec. Sometimes, 1 part of simple syrup is also added.
Your Long Island Iced Tea cocktail is ready. Enjoy!
