Italian Marinara Sauce

Let’s make a classic Italian Marinara sauce!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cans (15 oz each) crushed tomatoes
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup white wine (or chicken broth)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh parsley leaves
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions:

  1. Sauté aromatics: Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add wine and tomatoes: Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced by half. Add the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar.
  3. Simmer: Reduce heat to low and simmer the marinara sauce for 30 minutes.
  4. Add herbs: Just before serving, chop the fresh parsley and basil and stir them into the sauce.
