Italian Dessert “Semifreddo”

We suggest preparing the Italian dessert “Semifreddo”. This is a delightful Italian dessert, a soft homemade ice cream with various add-ins. Its name translates as “half-frozen.”

Ingredients:

  • Eggs – 2 pcs
  • 35% Cream – 250 ml
  • Sugar – 30 g
  • Candied fruit – 70 g
  • Berries – 100 g
  • Pistachios – 50 g
  • Vanilla sugar – to taste

Preparation:

  1. Separate the egg yolks from the whites and beat the yolks with sugar until light and fluffy. Then, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Finally, whip the cream and gently combine all three components into a smooth mixture. Add the pistachios, candied fruit, and berries, and mix well.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a silicone mold. If you don’t have one, you can use any other mold by greasing it with butter and lining it with plastic wrap. Place it in the freezer for 5 hours.
  3. Once the semifreddo is frozen, turn it out onto a plate and sprinkle with berries, or drizzle it with a sweet sauce.
