Homemade Butter

Homemade Butter – a delicious, natural, and healthy treat that’s easy to make at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 liter of homemade sour cream

Instructions:

  1. Chill: Start by chilling the sour cream and the bowl you’ll be using for at least a few hours.
  2. Whip: Begin whipping the sour cream on high speed. Once it thickens significantly, reduce the speed.
  3. Separate: As you whip, a liquid (buttermilk) will start to separate from the butter. Once you have a significant amount of buttermilk, stop whipping.
  4. Drain buttermilk: Strain the buttermilk through a sieve into a bowl. Don’t discard the buttermilk; it’s nutritious and can be used in baking or as a drink.
  5. Rinse the butter: Place the butter in a sieve and rinse it with ice-cold water until the water runs clear.
  6. Squeeze: Squeeze out any remaining buttermilk. Use ice water to keep your hands cool.
  7. Store: Wrap the butter in plastic wrap and refrigerate. For longer storage, freeze.
