We suggest making German Sausage Soup. German cuisine traditionally includes a large variety of sausages, as Germany produces over 1,500 different types of sausages, hot dogs, and bratwursts.
Ingredients:
- potatoes – 2 medium
- onion – 1 large
- celery – 3–4 stalks
- meat broth – 1 liter
- canned tomatoes – 400 g (peeled)
- ground caraway – to taste
- sausages – 6 (milk sausages)
- smoked sausage – 200 g
- white cabbage – 250 g
- red kidney beans – 200 g (canned)
- salt – to taste
- ground black pepper – to taste
Preparation:
- Dice the peeled potatoes into large cubes, finely chop the onion, and slice the celery thinly, removing any tough fibers.
- Pour the broth into a pot, add the diced potatoes, chopped onion, sliced celery, peeled canned tomatoes, and caraway to taste. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Let the soup simmer for 15–20 minutes.
- Slice the six sausages into rounds and cut the smoked sausage into cubes or strips. Thinly shred the cabbage.
- Add the sliced sausages, smoked sausage, cabbage, and canned kidney beans to the boiling soup. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue cooking for another 15–20 minutes. Serve hot.
German Sausage Soup is ready! Enjoy!
