Eggnog Cocktail

Here’s how to make an Eggnog Cocktail.

“Eggnog” is a dessert cocktail, ideal for concluding a long and hearty meal. The key ingredient in Eggnog is the egg or egg yolk. Eggnog is easy to drink, provides a pleasant feeling of fullness, and has the added advantage of being served warm or cold (simply add either cold or warm milk in the shaker). Some even compare Eggnog to egg punch, a well-known and popular drink in Austria and Germany.

Ingredients:

  • 4 parts (40 ml) brandy
  • 1 part (10 ml) sugar syrup
  • 5 parts (50 ml) milk
  • 1 egg yolk (or whole egg)
  • Grated nutmeg

Glass:

  • Highball, old-fashioned, or tumbler glass

Preparation:

Fill a shaker halfway with ice cubes. Add the egg (or egg yolk), sugar syrup, brandy, and milk, then shake well (about 1 minute). Strain into a highball glass (or old-fashioned or tumbler). Top with ground nutmeg. The Eggnog cocktail can be enjoyed through a straw.

Variations: Some variations use a whole egg instead of just the yolk. Often, rum is added in addition to (or instead of) brandy. Sometimes a tumbler or old-fashioned glass is used instead of a highball.
