We invite you to prepare Chili con Carne, a dish from Mexican and Texan cuisine. This hearty meal is filling and has a warming effect thanks to the addition of spicy seasonings. A true Mexican classic that will win your heart!
Ingredients:
- 500 g ground meat
- 400 g mushrooms
- 3 medium onions
- 1 can of white beans in tomato sauce or red beans (choose your favorite or mix both)
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes in tomato sauce
- 2 medium bell peppers
- 4 cups uncooked pasta
- 1 cup grated cheese
- Spices: salt, freshly ground black pepper, chili powder, chili flakes, sweet paprika, granulated garlic, cumin, oregano
- Optional: 1 can of corn
Instructions:
- Take a large, deep pot and add a mixture of oil and butter.
- Finely chop the onions and sauté them in the pot. Slice the mushrooms and add them to the onions. Sauté for about 10 minutes over medium heat.
- While the onions and mushrooms are cooking, cut both bell peppers into strips or cubes, then add them to the pot and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Add the raw ground meat and cook it with the vegetables, seasoning with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Once the meat is browned, add the beans with their sauce, a can of corn (if using), and mix well. If any liquid has released while cooking the peppers or meat, do not drain it—some will be absorbed by the pasta later, and the rest will evaporate.
- Add the canned tomatoes along with their sauce and mix well.
- Stir in the uncooked pasta and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
- If there isn’t enough liquid in the pot to cover the pasta, add some boiling water or tomato purée.
- When the pasta is nearly cooked, add the remaining spices. Adjust the amount of spicy seasoning to your taste.
- You can sprinkle grated cheese over the dish in the pot or directly on each serving. If adding cheese to the pot, stir it in well.
- Garnish each plate with freshly chopped parsley.
Chili con Carne is ready! Enjoy!
