Chicken Pie Kurnyk

Let’s make a traditional slavic dish, Kurnyk!

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml kefir (a fermented milk drink)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 250g margarine

For the filling:

  • 300 grams chicken mince or boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 potatoes
  • 3 onions
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough: In a bowl, combine the eggs and flour. Crumble the margarine into the mixture. Add the kefir and baking soda, and mix until a dough forms. Let the dough chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling: Chop the chicken, potatoes, and onions. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble the pie: Divide the dough in half. Roll out one half and place it in a baking dish. Add the filling and cover with the remaining dough.
  4. Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
