Let’s make a traditional slavic dish, Kurnyk!
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 eggs
- 250 ml kefir (a fermented milk drink)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3.5 cups flour
- 250g margarine
For the filling:
- 300 grams chicken mince or boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 potatoes
- 3 onions
- Salt
- Black pepper
Instructions:
- Make the dough: In a bowl, combine the eggs and flour. Crumble the margarine into the mixture. Add the kefir and baking soda, and mix until a dough forms. Let the dough chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the filling: Chop the chicken, potatoes, and onions. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the pie: Divide the dough in half. Roll out one half and place it in a baking dish. Add the filling and cover with the remaining dough.
- Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
