Let’s prepare a traditional Viennese dish – Backhendl. Backhendl is a classic Viennese dish dating back to the 18th century and was considered an aristocratic dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken
- 1 lemon
- 8 tablespoons flour
- 3 eggs
- Breadcrumbs
- 200g butter
- Black pepper
- Salt
Instructions:
- Take a whole prepared chicken, rub it with salt, black pepper, and a little freshly squeezed lemon juice. Let it sit for about 20 minutes.
- Cut the chicken into four portions, separating the wings.
- Dip the portioned pieces in flour, then in beaten eggs, and then in breadcrumbs.
- Fry the pieces of chicken in a large amount of melted butter. Ideally, use a deep fryer, but you can also fry in a pan, covering it with a lid.
Backhendl is ready! Serve with parsley, a slice of lemon, and a side of green salad or potato salad. Enjoy!
